WORLD SERIES

The 20th annual World Series of Golf tournament will commence on May 19, 2008.

ESG&EC President, Per-Ulrik Fatcatsson, confirmed Toukley, Wyong, Kooindah Waters and Tuggerah Lakes as the venues.

The President also warned lovers of quality golf to steer well clear of the NSW Central Coast during the week long tournament.

WORLD SERIES OF GOLF

The World Series of Golf is the club's premier tournament.  It is played Monday to Friday over 4 rounds - two teams events and two individual events - at various courses on the NSW Central Coast.

The courses for the first 3 days are chosen from Gosford, Wyong, Kooindah Waters, Morisset (see picture of 18th hole at right), Everglades and Toukley.  Friday's final round, Championship Day, is traditionally played at Tuggerah Lakes.  The week away is a demanding test of stamina and guile, both on and off the course.  Four days of walking courses, five afternoons and nights of socialising, gambling and drinking, and on the golf rest day we head to the local gallops at either Gosford or Wyong.

FORMAT

Foursomes, 4BBB or Ambrose are the choices for the opening days, with Stableford and Stroke the events for the individual days.  Points are awarded according to your finishing position each day – 1 point for first, 2 points for second etc.  At the end of the week, the player with the least number of points is the winner.  The event is generally held early to mid May.

HANDICAPS

All ESG&EC tournaments are played under the Dickworth-Lewis handicapping system.  For the World Series, the maximum individual handicap is 40 and players must play all rounds to receive a handicap benefit for their next World Series event.  A player who does not play all rounds may however, depending on their overall finish, receive a handicap penalty.
